Yeesh!

Boy have we had one crazy week! Last week Jeremy got really sick and stayed home from school for a few days. He never ever takes sick days (even when I beg him to skip) so for him to stay home was a big deal. He just kept getting worse, so Saturday morning we went to load up in the car to take him to the doctor. After we were all outside we realized that we locked our house keys and car keys inside!! Ugh! So we had to fork out $50 for a stranger to come let us back in our house. What a bummer. To make our day even better we found out that Jeremy had strep throat again! Luckily he got some medicine and is doing much better!

Then yesterday Kelson got a fever. I thought nothing of it, but every time he gets one we have to take him to get a cathider to make sure it's not a kidney issue. Luckily it wasn't....but he and Brynlie both have RSV! I had no idea! Poor kiddos! It has been a rough day in the Macdonald house. I've never delt with RSV....I've never really had my kids act really sick at all. Have any of your kids had RSV? Did it last very long? Will I be house ridden for weeks???

  2. Yikes!! Sounds like you guys have your hands full! JB got RSV last winter, about this same time. It was a good 2 weeks before we were up and runnin' normally again. My pediatrican ordered us a booger sucking machine to try and keep him all cleaned out and breathing good. maybe you can look into one of those if you need one. We didn't really use it all that much though but I have friends that love them. I hope you all get feeling better soon. When you guys get better we really do have to do something!

  3. Hey Julie,
I am so sorry.. that sucks. My kids haven't had RSV, but in the class I teach,we had a pediatrician come and talk about it a little. The most important thing is that you caught it, and I think it is easy for kids to get dehydrated when they have it..so lots of liquids. What were the signs you noticed to take the kids in the first place? Was there breathing a lot different?

  4. The only reason I took Kelson in is cause he has to get a cath. every time he has a fever. I just thought he had a cold cause he had a runny nose and a cough. It wasn't anything bad though. I guess one of the biggest signs of RSV is problems breathing, or raspy breathing. I now see that Kelson has raspy breathing, but I never really noticed before the Dr. pointed it out. I was shocked when he said it was RSV. He's doing much much better though!

  7. Maya had RSV and it was horrible. She was sick for almost 2 weeks. Good luck, all I can say is I think she is traumatized from the suction bulb.

  8. JEREMY!!! So I have no comments to make about RSV, but you just recently left a comment on our blog, so I'm posting back in response.

Your kids are adorable, and Brynlie is hilarious - she must get it from her Grandpa Orlan.

I can't tell from the blog, but you're obviously living in a very cold place. If it's in the Wasatch front, let me know cuz I travel up there from Houston a couple times a year and would love to meet your family.

Be seein you in the bloggin world--Ryan

  12. Julie! I am so glad you found me! I have actually had your blog address for about a year now, and I don't even remember how I got it (I think through Becky Fenn?) anyway..your blog is so cute and so are your kids! I can't believe how sweet Brynlie has turned out, I still have a picture of me holding her in the hospital right after she was born! I love the name Kelson too. Anywho..I was afraid to contact you through your blog because I wasn't sure if you would remember me. You are so cute!

On a side note: You can scroll through my blog link to see if you remember anyone else. Maybe Kawai?

  13. Oh, I forgot to ask..which Kate did you find me on? Was it Kate Delahunty? She is really crafty. She and my sister in-law (Mac's older sister) are married into the same family (brothers) if that makes sense..

Hi Julie... Taylin had RSV a couple of times... but she ended up in the hospital each time for 3-4 days. The suction machine for their nose is a great idea. They get so stuffed up. I hope they are feeling better quickly! I will try to call you soon! Love you guys!!
