Poor little man

We had a busy busy spring break.....full of traveling, ultrasounds, enemas, breathing tubes...sounds exciting right?

We went up to Portland again for Mister Man. Poor little guy had to go in for surgery. We had a pre-op on Wednesday and they did an ultrasound on him. Turns out his bad kidney and all the cysts are shrinking, which is really good!
After a long night of enemas, no nursing (ouch!) and about 29 diapers, we went in on Thursday and he had a lathroscopy done where they made 3 incisions in his belly. They finally found his "second missing man piece" on top of his kidney. They ended up just taking it out cause it was unformed. Jeremy calls him Uno now......but all ya need is one, so he's good to go.

Luckily most of his bad parts come in twos. Then they gave him the equivalent to an epidural, gave him a catheter and then put a camera through the catheter to check his bladder. The bubble on his bladder could pose a problem later on, but luckily we wont have to take him back in for a full year. Yahoo!! We are just so glad that he is healthy and doing well....and that the surgery is over!!! After surgery he didn't wake up for an hour so Jeremy and I were sitting in the room just waiting and waiting! It seemed so long. He was pretty horse sounding afterwards because of the breathing tube and because he was numb from the waist down he just sat there, which is rare for him.

We had to wait there for about 5 more hours until he would pee, and then an hour after he did we were able to leave. Kelson has had a great recovery. How we love this boy. He turned 9 months on Thursday and almost weighs 25 lbs. (that's like a third of Auntie Lauren right??)!! He is crawling and climbing into EVERYTHING and is attempting to wave. He's learned what "No" means, and really hates that word. He and Brynlie have been playing and laughing together so much lately. I love that they can do that now. Brynlie is a great big sister.

Well that was our busy week. We didn't realize how much time we would be at the hospital and are so so SO thankful for Jena! She played nanny for 2 days and spoiled Brynlie rotten! I don't know what we would have done without you Jen!! You saved our hineys big time!!! Thank you everyone who helped us out and kept us in your prayers! We appreciate it so much!

  4. Hopefully Jeremy gets over the Uno thing before he hits puberty. Poor little boy, I bet it is hard to see your child like that. I hope you found a pump somewhere for the sake of you "girl parts."
